As a protest against the charges that were recently filed by the US authorities to Aaron Schwarz for distributing open scientific works, Gregory Maxwell, a technologist from Washington, posted 18,592 scientific works (32.48 GB) from the library of the British scientific journal “The Royal Philosophical Works Society "( Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society ), which is produced since 1665. Maxwell believes that magazines, galleries and museums do not fulfill their high mission to ensure freedom of information, but rather impede access to it. So for the articles posted by Maxwell, the archive of the magazine required from 8 to 19 dollars apiece, while also limiting the number of views per month. Maxwell acquired all documents legally for his own money and with the help of friends from the scientific community. However, he notes that all the documents laid out were published before 1923 and are legally in the public domain.
