Manufacturers of electric cars offer used batteries from cars to use for home.

Now more and more electric cars are appearing on the market, and automakers who previously did not pay attention to electric cars, nevertheless, start producing them - after all, such cars find their consumers. And with cheaper electric cars, more and more people are buying them. But here there is one problem - recycling of waste batteries, which can no longer be used in electric vehicles due to reduced capacity.

We all came across this phenomenon when phones and laptops started to “sit down” after a couple of years of operation much faster than at the very beginning, after the purchase. With mobile phones, we do not stand on ceremony - if the model is inexpensive, it goes to the landfill, if more expensive - to the market, to dealers. The same thing happens with laptops.

But what to do with a used electric vehicle battery? After all, these batteries are still able to accumulate electricity, but not in the amounts that are needed for normal operation of the car. Companies Nissan and GM propose to use such batteries at home, for different purposes, but with great benefits for the household. Thus, the battery from an electric vehicle can accumulate sufficient charge to maintain the operation of many household devices for several hours.

Nissan generally proposes using Leaf electric car batteries in combination with solar panels. Such a system makes an apartment or house a little more independent from the power supply system. If there are interruptions in electricity, we turn on our “autonomy” and enjoy. There was electricity - disconnect.

Now similar systems are being created, and soon we can expect their mass appearance on the market. In general, the idea is not bad - of course, in the CIS countries electric cars themselves are still very rare, if they exist at all, but for the EU countries this is a really interesting and beneficial project in many aspects. In any case, the battery, unfit for use in cars, can last for many more years, performing other tasks.
