So, on Thursday, it was officially announced that the Oracle giant had made the purchase of Ksplice, the creator of the technology, allowing administrators to install important security updates (including kernel updates) on Linux servers without subsequent rebooting. Details of the transaction were not announced.

On the Oracle website there is a news item saying that the Internet giant plans to be the only corporation that will provide customers with “zero downtime” technology, which will be delivered by default to the premium customers of Oracle Linux (meaning those who bought Oracle Linux Premier Support).
