Google closes google labs

Google has announced the closure of Labs - the main innovation unit, where new ideas and functionality were generated. This is done in order to “focus efforts on products,” as Larry Page recently argued .

For some of the experiments at Google Labs, development will be discontinued soon, while others will be embedded in various products. Labs applications for Android will remain in the Android Market.

It remains to hope that Google will not slow down innovation and will not go along the beaten track of Microsoft’s “creative destruction” .
