Google acquires ImageAmerica to develop its map services

Google has announced the acquisition of ImageAmerica , a company engaged in the creation of high-resolution cameras for taking pictures from the air.

Previously, ImageAmerica provided its photos for Google Earth and Google Maps , including black and white photos of New Orleans in high resolution after the hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.

Google Maps and Google Earth project manager Stephen Chau said that Google is happy with how ImageAmerica’s future technologies will help develop the company's map services.
