Help OpenStreetMap cool your coffee

Editing OpenStreetMap has never been easier! I would like to talk about the MapMen POI Collector application from CloudMade for iPhone and Android, which allows you to add new POIs to the OpenStreetMap database and edit existing ones. The fact that OSM needs to be helped, I think, is clear to everyone and is not even discussed, therefore I will not explain it. Now you can help even easier - you can without delay add an object, being directly in it and for this you do not need a full-fledged computer with Flash or Java. For example, while your coffee is cooling, do not be lazy to add your cafe in OpenStreetMap, if it is not there yet. But, of course, not only the cafe is available, but dozens of other types of POIs are available (and at least in Android they are all exactly in Russian, so there won't be any problems with the language - you will not need to look for the name in English and remember ). It would be much more useful for the whole society than to play, for example, in foursquare, and that makes me personally more interesting than the same foursquare.

So, install the app using the App Store or Android Market . Mapzen POI Collector first appeared on the App Store on November 26, 2009. Later appeared version for Android.

When you launch the app, you will be prompted to log into your OpenStreetMap account or create a new one. If you have Android (I honestly don’t know about iOS, but probably the same thing), then a browser will open and you can log in and then allow the application access to your account. After that, return to the application - in front of you will be a map of the world. You can enlarge the map or choose “where am I?” And your smartphone will determine your location by itself and show an approximate map on which the already marked POI will be visible. You can select a POI, view the available information and start editing. Or you can create a new POI. In both cases, you can edit the point name, address, website, phone, time, and other description. When creating you can also choose the type of POI. They are available a huge variety. Fill in the fields with the information you know and click "Save." Everything! Information added to the database! You have helped hundreds of people who will later use your information.
