Japanese use industrial iRobot to collect radioactive dust from Fukushima

Immediately after the accident at Fukushima, many observers have a question - why the Japanese do not use robots for reconnaissance and liquidation of the consequences of the accident (that's the fashion phrase, right?). After all, the Japanese almost every day demonstrated (and still demonstrate) robots of various purposes. Some dance, some play the violin, others help the sick or explore the rubble. But the trouble is - there were no robots at all at Fukushima, only people.

But after a while the robots began to appear. In the beginning - reconnaissance robots, several at once, and now - a robot vacuum cleaner. And from the same company, vacuum cleaners which cheerfully buzz at some of us home. Yes, it's about iRobot, and I'm still not going to write a review of the washing robot for Habr. By the way, will this review be interesting to you? So far, no one has described washing models, and I have been running for about a year now ...
')
So, iRobot has put at the disposal of the Fukushima administration an industrial robot vacuum cleaner of high power. I understand that this robot collects radioactive dust, it is unlikely that he could do anything else. Tokyo Radio Power Co. is responsible for collecting radioactive dust. (TEPCO). Representatives of this company reported that the robot is controlled remotely.

You can watch the work of the robot here (although the video is not very high quality):
