Xandros , a supplier of commercial server and desktop operating systems based on free software,
acquired on Wednesday a
Scalix project that develops an open mail client, a calendar and a platform for group work.
Representatives of Xandros, which develops Linux desktop and server operating systems, as well as a package of management applications for BridgeWays, said that this acquisition should help achieve the company's goal: create a complete set of Linux solutions for home, small and medium businesses, advanced corporate servers, and make cross-platform applications for management and IT infrastructure.
Xandros reports that Scalix, whose products run on Xandros, Red Hat and Novell SuSE platforms, will continue to operate independently, as a subsidiary. The transaction value has not been disclosed.
