New advances in the automotive industry

Modern auto industry seeks to amaze its customers by offering revolutionary solutions in the design of new car models. On the catwalks of car dealerships from Los Angeles to Geneva, all sorts of concept cars shine in full view, but the technologies with which the physical prototypes of future models are created are often kept secret. Few people know that most of the details of these concepts are the result of a 3D printer.
In 2008, the concept car Citroën GT was introduced at the Paris Motor Show. This car was originally modeled for Gran Turismo 5, a racing simulator on the Play Station 3. Citroen was able to realize this dream of a racer, and Materialize's technological solutions helped her in this. With the help of 3D printing technologies were produced the most complex interior details. We can tell you about it only now, after three years, having received permission from all interested parties.

Car manufacturers are doing everything to capture the imagination of car enthusiasts, and the result of this desire most often are models that, in terms of engineering, have gone far beyond the capabilities of the modern auto industry. In order to realize the virtual model of the future concept car, manufacturers have to use not their own production, but the latest technological solutions, which is 3D printing. Of course, such details of the backstage life of concept cars try not to disclose.
Some more interesting projects that can now be spoken about openly are Citroën Hypnos, whose seats were made using 3D printing, as well as futuristic details of the subject panel for the Renault Ondelios concept car.

All these prototypes were presented at motor shows in 2008, but since then we have done a lot of work. Most recently, the project of one of the concept cars for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show was completed, in which almost the entire interior was finalized and manufactured at Materialize. In addition, at the moment, we went beyond the scope of the prototype industry, and began to take part in the manufacture of parts for existing vehicles of single and mass production.
Which ones? Perhaps in a couple of years we will have the opportunity to write a post about it. 
