Before you - one of those blogs, which would become a topic-reference, if the subject of it could adequately and concisely convey in words. However, it was
not there: it must be seen. Look, here's what the colorful icons from the
Map Icons Collection collection , which was created by the author Nicolas Mollet and distributed by

I took this illustration
from the SHTOSM blog , and the icons on it are presented on the Google map, judging by the form - however, it is not difficult to think that the greatest benefit from their appearance lies precisely in the ability to combine these icons with OpenStreetMap and in order to achieve licensed cartographic demonstration, losing in quality.

But other advantages:
- The icons are numerous: they are more than half a thousand, although some variants differ only in color. Their catalog on the site is organized by categories and subcategories. All icons of the same category (if not repainted by the user) have the same color.
- The color of the inside of the icon can be freely selected. In addition, the user can choose from seven different styles for the design of the inside of the badge and the outer contour based on this color:

- A set of icons of each style can be downloaded in a ZIP-archive, although inside the icons are a simple heap, and not by categories.
Under Habrakat, I’ll let you know, especially for LiveJournal blog hosting users, that I went and created a translational account
rss_map_icons in LiveJournal, which will receive (from RSS) news about updates to the Map Icons Collections collection, about new arrivals of badges. You can add
rss_map_icons to your “friends feed” to keep up to date.
