A comScore report on the video hosting market, published yesterday, shows that about two thirds of US users watched 158 minutes of online video on average in May. About 132 million Americans reported that, on average, the length of one video viewed this month was 2.5 minutes.
Tops the list of the most popular online video services by Google, naturally, considering YouTube. Of the 1.8 billion views from Google, YouTube accounts for 1.7 billion. This means that Google accounts for 21.5% of the online video streaming market. The second place is occupied by Fox Interactive with 600 million viewed videos, that is 8.1% of the market share. Next come Yahoo with 4.6% and Viacom with 2.8% of the market. Also in the report from comScore one can see that more than 35% of American Internet users watch videos on YouTube, and the average number of videos watched per day is more than two (63 views per month).
