Skype for Android with video
Today released updated Skype for Android. The main differences from the new version are two:
- Video calls (while on a limited number of models)
- Updated interface.
Video calls require Android OS version 2.3 and higher and a front camera. Currently four devices are supported:
If your phone model is not supported - do not despair, video support on other Android devices is planned soon. Basic requirements for the device: Android 2.3, support for NEON and the presence of the front camera, however, it takes some time to test on different models to make sure everything works OK (which is due to the variety of hardware and Android firmware versions).
Video calls work both via WiFi and 3G connection.
In terms of the interface, you can note the new main menu, from which you can quickly go to all the main sections of the program (contact list, your profile, numeric keypad, balance your account, etc.) A line also appeared for reporting status, which can be brief write about your mood or plans.
