Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools have added social network statistics.

And I must say, just in time - so many webmasters had to invent all sorts of “crutches” to get information about how many visitors come to the site from social networks. And now the developers at Google have created an interesting tool (as far as it’s convenient and efficient - time will tell), allowing you to keep track of all this without any problems.

Google Webmaster Tools now has a "+1 Metrics" section, which shows the effect of the "+1" button on search and issue. The new analytics system can also show the influence this button has on such an indicator as CTR. Naturally, the information is displayed not only textual, but also in the form of graphs, which is very convenient.

In addition, Google added sections of the “Activity report” and Audience report in Webmaster Tools. The first section shows how many clicks on the "+1" button were done on the pages of your resource. The second section shows a report on users, including demographic and geographic characteristics.

All this, of course, is good and useful. But there is one more tool, much more interesting. This is a plugin for “Social Plugin Tracking” for Google Analytics. The plugin allows you to compare the impact of various social resources on the site. It tracks not only the “+1” button, but also tweets, likes on Facebook and other actions on social networks that are related to your resource.

This plugin shows three types of reports: Social Engagement, Social Actions and Social Pages. The first tracks changes in visits generated by social plugins (time on the site, page views, etc.). The second is the number of actions in social networks related to your resource (the number of clicks on all sorts of buttons there, etc.). And the third type of report compares the “social popularity” of different pages on your site.
