Biz Stone left Twitter to work on new projects

Twitter co-founder Biz Stone announced that he would retire from the company and move on to work on several new projects.

Stone will again work with Twitter co-founder Ev Williams on projects under the auspices of the revived Obvious Corporation - an organization that Williams founded in the mid -2000s in order to assemble several projects in one company. It was inside Obvious that Twitter itself was born, later separated into a separate company.

Stone and Williams will be joined by Jason Goldman, another Twitter leader. He was the vice president of the company until he retired last December.

Williams himself resigned as CEO of Twitter at the end of last year. Current CEO Dick Costolo will remain at the helm of the company.

Stone wrote on his blog that he would still help Twitter when and where he could. But most of his time he will spend on new beginnings.

Regarding the Obvious Corporation, Stone writes rather vaguely: “Our plan is to develop new projects and work on solving serious problems related to a simple mission: Obvious Corporation develops systems that help people work together to improve the world. It's a dream!".

On Twitter, besides Dick Costolo, Jack Dorsey, another co-founder of the startup, remains in the lead. He abandoned the role of CEO in 2008, after a year presenting his new project Square, but this year he returned to the company as executive chairman.

Now it’s not quite clear who is in charge on Twitter, but one can hope that the company will continue to develop with Costolo and Dorsey as head and Stone and Williams as advisors.
