YAPC :: Europe August 15–17 in Riga

In the middle of August, from 15 to 17 August, the next annual European Perl-conference YAPC :: Europe will be held in Riga. More than a hundred speeches by active Perl experts!

Every year the conference changes its venue and in the 12th year she arrived in Riga. This, by the way, is the easternmost city where this event was ever held. Accordingly, it came so close to the Russian borders for the first time. Although they let in Riga on a Schengen visa, it is very easy to get to it: from Moscow by plane for an hour and a half or by night express , and from St. Petersburg - even by bus .

Efforts to prepare for the trip will pay off immediately and repeatedly: the most active members of the Perl community traditionally gather at the conference, many of whom not only write on blogs, but also source the pearl and bring us joy from the new versions. Larry Wall, Damien Conway, and Patrick Michaud, and many other stars, come as well. In the list of participants - people from forty countries.

The main three days - August 15, 16 and 17 - are filled to capacity with reports about Perl, about all its modern versions (and 5.14, and 5.16) and Rakudo & Perl 6, about working with databases (DBIx :: Class, DBIx :: DataModel, Data :: Query, NoSQL, Redis), TDD, TAP, benchmarks and dependencies, Mojolicious web-based web frameworks, Dancer and the new Catalyst version, git and hg work, regular expressions and search (ElasticSearch, for example ) about fashionable Plack, PSGI and clouds. But the main thing is not even these topics, but the opportunity to hang out with like-minded people in person.

This year we present a novelty: a separate stream for beginners . Within one day, you will be able to get an idea of ​​the programming language and its practical applications, and all this is first-hand and surrounded by friendly people.
