New console based on Dingux - R480

Warmly accepted by the enthusiastic pocket gaming console Dingoo A320 over the past two years has not received a logical continuation. Products of competitors Shenzhen Dingoo Digital Co. They are impressive with individual elements, but they do not create the final value for geeks that the original A320 has - the ability to install a Linux-based operating system. This option adds any piece of hardware to +5 karma!

It is possible that soon everything will change for the better ...

A preliminary review of the prototype of the new “Russian-Chinese” R480 console, which was published yesterday on the a320.emulate.su website, roused the masses. I offer Habra readers an expanded version of this material and call for active discussion of what they see in the comments.

Analysis of the test sample is not possible, so all conclusions are made on the basis of indirect data, knowledge of the hardware of other Chinese gadgets and banal intuition. The Russian company-customer (whose name is not deliberately called) is also not eager to share the exact specification of the console, fearing the invisible hand of the Chinese market.

Key points that are evident from the device samples obtained:
Some details of communication with the company preparing the device for entering the market:
Other working emulators from Dingux are checked:
A complete list of consoles that is emulated "from the factory" from the main menu: CAPCOM System 1 / System 2, Neo Geo, Game Boy, Gameboy Color, Game Boy Advance, Super Nintendo, Sega Megadrive, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear.

In the course of the video, the G-Sensor option is mentioned. For those who do not know - this is a position sensor in space. Already a year as it is implemented in GPH Caanoo, which makes it stand out among handheld devices for the better and gives new hues to the impressions of classic games.

The first readers of the review expressed distrust of the Russian product and even suggested strengthening the Russian idea in console naming. There are options for LIFS-480 and PIRS R480 (PIRS is a personal / portable infotainment system).

In order to stop these speculations - black and white: the console is made in China, at similar production facilities (where there are other consoles). Russian is only the order of specific consumer properties.

One of the readers of the original review ( ratiboralien ) expressed interesting thoughts about what he saw in the video:

Most likely, the console actually uses the Ingenic JZ4755, today the JZ4760 processors and its modification JZ4760B are relevant. This approach immediately opens up the perspective of the USB host in the console, overclocking right up to 800 MHz and support for resolutions up to 800x480. Unfortunately, the chosen resolution (480x272), though large compared to the original A320, introduces hardware acceleration into a stupor that can be used (disproportionate scale).

All the data that were able to identify - preliminary. The final specifications of the console will be available only at the time of appearance on sale. While the test sample R480 is in our hands, we are waiting for your questions, wishes and suggestions. What will be beyond our capabilities - we will enthusiastically convey to the developers.
