Nokia CEO Stephen Elop: “There will be no return to MeeGo”

Stephen Elop, Nokia CEO, gave an interview to HELSINGIN SANOMAT, in which he touched on some of the strategic moments of his company. Describing the interview as a whole, we can say that Elop remains loyal to the strategy voiced earlier, according to which his company will be guided as the base operating system for its phones on Windows Phone 7.

Following this, Elop indirectly mentioned the novelty N9, stating in connection with it that the company is not going to return to smartphones based on MeeGo even if the sales of N9 are successful. On the other hand, according to Elop, consultations with telecom operators and work with customer focus groups have shown that Windows Phone 7 devices will be a big success.

Further, Elop rejected the fears of many analysts that Nokia could turn into a simple hardware supplier and Microsoft subcontractor - “Nokia will continue research and development of software and hardware. We will build our solutions based on Windows-based phones, which ... will bring additional benefits for application developers. ”
