Facebook is experimenting with a new type of advertising: questions from “sponsors”



Like many other big projects, Facebook is constantly looking to make more money. However, there is never a lot of money, and the management of the social network is trying new ways to enter advertising, and therefore new ways to get money. The advertising system is being tested in comments, when the “sponsor” asks a question about something, and users respond to this comment, and of course, get acquainted with the author of the question.

The system is called, accordingly, “Comment ads”, and the first advertiser who tried it at work is the company Allstate, which uses the character Mayhem for advertising. The first advertising question asked by this character was “What of the fact that your children get up in the car can be called the worst?”. Naturally, such an urgent question, even if paid for, caused a lot of answers.

There were more questions, already from Hallmark, this issue was related to the summer vacation, so the topic was also developed. It seems that the new advertising system is the result of AdExpo. This idea was proposed by an advertising agency from Chicago, and the idea became the winner in the competition.

Earlier, the social network Facebook has already tried the Sponsored Stories system, which allows users to interact with brands, noting what they like in the special column on the right.

By the way, a new way to attract advertisers earned almost immediately after Twitter announced the launch of an advertising system in a stream of tweets, which was already written earlier . It seems that companies are actively looking for and introducing alternative advertising schemes that have not existed before.
