Winklevoss twins didn’t think to retreat from Facebook

After a series of defeats in court, Tyler and Cameron Winklowoss seemed to have completely abandoned their claims to Facebook, when on Wednesday they decided not to appeal to the Supreme Court the settlement agreement they entered into with Zuckerberg in 2008.

But now the rowers-Olympians and their business partner Divya Narendra have returned to the arena with another lawsuit against Facebook. In a new lawsuit filed in the District Court of Massachusetts, they are asked to consider whether Facebook hid evidence during the trial that Mark Zuckerberg stole their idea to create Facebook.

The lawsuit, which Winklevoss sued on Thursday, said that during the initial discussions on the settlement, Facebook had to disclose documents that would shed light on the relationship between the twins and Zuckerberg at the time of the founding of Facebook.

After the conclusion of a settlement agreement in 2008 in the amount of $ 65 million in money and shares Winklevossa said that Facebook has hidden information about the true value of their shares. As they say, they were led to believe that the 1.2 million shares they received were worth $ 36 each, although in fact they were worth $ 8.80 each.

Their long legal battle to change the settlement agreement ended in nothing.

“For some reason [Winklevoss] want to cancel the agreement. As a district court, we see no reason to allow them to do so. At some point, the trial should end, ”wrote Chief Justice Alex Kozinski in the decision of the appellate court , which was consistent with the previous decision of the district court. "This moment has now come."

But no - in May, the twins announced that they intend to file a petition for the recovery of the case to the Supreme Court. On Wednesday, they refused to file an appeal, and on Thursday filed a fresh lawsuit.

Facebook external lawyer Neil Chatterjee stated: "These are old and unfounded allegations that were considered and rejected earlier in court."
