Microsoft will help port Node on Windows

I'm glad to tell you that Microsoft, in collaboration with Joyent, will provide resources for porting Node to Windows. As you might have heard earlier this year, we began work on a native port on Windows — in order to use the high-performance IOCP API.

This work requires a significant degree of modification of the basic structure, and we are very pleased that we are now receiving official guidance and engineering resources from Microsoft. Rackspace also allocated time for Bert Belder to do this work.

The result will be the official binary release node.exe published on nodejs.org, which will run on Windows Azure and other versions of Windows starting with Windows Server 2003.
