Despite the significant damage from the actions of the group Anonymous, Sony Corporation does not surrender and continues the holy war with “hackers”, modders, modifiers of its products and intellectual property captors. Now Sony wants to punish the German developer Alexander Egorenkov (graf_chokolo), who, like GeoHot, in early 2011 distributed the firmware for the PS3 prefix. With the help of a modification, it was possible to install Linux there. As you know, Sony for some time has forbidden to do this (before this functionality was allowed).
Egorenkov came under investigation in February 2011, when a police search was conducted in his apartment, accompanied by a Sony representative.
Apparently, Alexander Egorenkov cannot yet amicably settle the conflict with Sony
, following GeoHot’s example . He promised to continue the development of OtherOS, despite the threat of imprisonment, and collected donations for legal fees and a lawyer. However, the funds did not even have enough of it, not to mention the payment of a fine, exhibited by Sony (1 million euros). On June 17, Alexander
wrote in his blog that he was ready to go to prison, because there was no other way out.

The witch hunt goes on other fronts. Yesterday
another commit from Sony came to Github to delete the project for violation of the DMCA. After this commit, Sony reached a 50% indicator among all applications for deleting projects from Github for violating the DMCA. Although such applications are extremely small:
only 12 pieces since the beginning of this year, but six of them came from Sony, that is exactly half.
