Kopirasty still got to us. Below is the story as it was.
First provider
It all started one day when I discovered the inaccessibility of the local torrent, located on the site of the Voronezh branch of Beeline (formerly Golden Telecom).
Physically, the server was available, and the ping from the local network passed to it:
[dganic @ dganic ~] $ ping torrentshost
PING fiberboom.ru (10.255.63.253) 56 (84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 10.255.63.253: icmp_req = 1 ttl = 59 time = 1.02 ms
64 bytes from 10.255.63.253: icmp_req = 2 ttl = 59 time = 1.08 ms
64 bytes from 10.255.63.253: icmp_req = 3 ttl = 59 time = 6.13 ms
64 bytes from 10.255.63.253: icmp_req = 4 ttl = 59 time = 1.03 ms
- fiberboom.ru ping statistics -
4 packets transmitted, 4 received, 0% packet loss, time 3004ms
rtt min / avg / max / mdev = 1.025 / 2.319 / 6.138 / 2.205 ms
Check for availability of ports:
[dganic @ dganic ~] $ nmap torrentshost
Starting Nmap 5.51 ( nmap.org ) at 2011-06-23 13:17 MSD
Nmap scan report torrentshost (10.255.63.253)
Host is up (0.023s latency).
Not shown: 997 closed ports
PORT STATE SERVICE

2222 / tcp open EtherNet / IP-1
8000 / tcp
(14:43:07) open http-alt
Nmap done: 1 IP address (1 host up) scanned in 0.40 seconds')
Well, okay, I thought, what little technical problems can there be, maybe they are updating in the torrent engine.
Second provider
Fortunately, I had a second provider, Svyaz Telecom. What was my surprise when I saw the address of the tracker:
The tracker is closed. We do everything for your convenience. Thank you for understanding! We remind you that the resource forum works separately and is still available at: forum.trackerhost
I went to the tracker forum to read what people are writing. The administrator of the torrent claimed that it increases the functionality and therefore the site does not work. The answer to what functionality should appear after this disconnection of the tracker “for technical reasons” could not be expected from it. After that, on the tracker forum, I began to raise the topic, that two closed trackers at the same time are the machinations of "copywriting", but not technical reasons. The forum was also disabled, and this time more thoroughly:
[dganic @ dganic ~] $ ping trackerhost
ping: unknown host trackerhost
Third provider
I also had a third Summa Telecom provider. Her torrent was also unavailable. I went to look for information on the official forum, and she still found:
Dear subscribers! In connection with the prescription of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of Voronezh, we are forced to suspend the work of the torrent tracker. I ask you to take this step with understanding and accept apologies for the inconvenience.
A screenshot can be viewed
here . This is the only provider who has told the truth, not afraid that users will scatter.
Dig further
I went to look for the "Big Voronezh Forum" in the topics about local torrents. The moderators began to skip messages of this kind:
The closure of such resources is waiting for all providers.
ProofscreenAlso on one of the combined torrents “Svyaz Telecom” and “Ertelecom” there is such an inscription:
The resource is closed according to the order No. 47/2306 dated June 08, 2011 of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate in the Voronezh Region
Here is such a regrettable news. They took us seriously and it is time to look for alternatives. For example, the similarity of such as voiced by a
stringwriter :
habrahabr.ru/blogs/p2p/94489UPD: Thanks to
Ro_On , another
Informvyaz provider (FreeDom) of the GUVD sent a ruling, a message on the forum -
prooffire , but fortunately they have not yet closed, but simply banned the distribution of commercial software, it follows that the GUVD was “kicked” by someone from software authors, I wonder what?
UPD2: Information from "MY!"
As the correspondents of “MYO!” Found out, the mysterious instruction No. 47/2306 was indeed sent to the administrators of the Voronezh torrent trackers. This information was confirmed by the head of the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Voronezh Region Igor Sushkov.
“The K department conducted monitoring of Voronezh torrents, after which prescriptions were sent to resource managers with recommendations to remove unlicensed and pornographic materials,” explained Igor Sushkov. - Apparently, some have decided that it is easier for them to close torrents altogether than to clean out all illegal content.
The prescription is advisory in nature, Igor Sushkov clarified, because the police do not have legal grounds to close the torrent: the users who posted the files are not responsible for the pirated content.
According to the sources of “MYO!”, A similar prescription was received by one of the largest providers of the city “Informsvyaz” (brand “Freedom”), however, while their torrent continues to work.
