Alawar will hold a GameDev-section for game developers in Novosibirsk

image From July 11 to July 30, 2011, a GameDev section will take place in Novosibirsk, organized by Alawar Entertainment , a multiplatform publisher of casual games. The event will be held in the framework of the Summer School of Academpark . The overall goal of the School and the GameDev section is to help them organize their own business for those students who already have their own business idea, and search for a team for those developers who would like to gain experience of participation in a startup. During the two-week seminars (the first week of classes will be common for all Summer School students), GameDev course participants will have the opportunity to learn similarities about the specifics of work in the gaming industry from the inside and develop their own games for PCs, mobile platforms or social networks.

GameDev is the second section on game development from Alawar, conducted jointly with the Novosibirsk Academpark. Despite the active development of Alawar in the international market, the company's headquarters is still located in Novosibirsk, about three and a half kilometers from Academpark. Such close proximity allows Alawar to most effectively organize a course of lectures on the development of games based on Academpark and attract current specialists to the GameDev-seminars program.

The program of the GameDev section is divided into theoretical courses and practical work in teams, each of which will work on its own game project. The GameDev sections will be run by representatives of gaming studios - Alawar Friday's Games (Novosibirsk) and Alawar Stargaze (Barnaul), as well as marketing and sales specialists of the parent company. Game designers and producers, programmers and artists will spend two weeks with students, giving lectures and master classes, and will help to create a complete game from scratch. In addition to Alawar employees, external experts will be involved, including Dmitry Dolgov, one of the most respected technical specialists in the Russian gaming industry.

As a result of schooling, students will be able to receive a job offer or internship at Alawar, as well as sign a contract with the company for funding and publishing projects. Thus, following the results of the first school, three people were employed at Alawar, and the best project, based on the selection results, received funding and further development with the support of Alawar.

Applications for participation in the Alawar GameDev section can be submitted before July 1, 2011, the number of seats is limited. All non-resident students are provided with a hostel on preferential terms. You can find out more information about the school and fill out the form on the website .
