Today, at
the ICANN International Conference , which is taking place these days in Singapore, a program for introducing new top-level domains (gTLDs) was adopted.
This program is the result of many years of discussions, debates and discussions of ICANN with the Internet community, business community and government - Peter Dengate Trash, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICANN Directors: “Today’s solution opens a new era of Internet. We provided the foundation for the next generation of creativity and inspiration. ”
The program of introducing new gTLDs will allow private companies (trademark owners) to get their own domain zone (gTLD), for example: .google, .microsoft.
In the near future, ICANN plans to launch a global campaign that aims to tell the world about changes in Internet addresses to raise awareness of the opportunities offered by new gTLDs.

Earlier, ICANN approved working groups that will study the problems of new gTLDs. As expected, in addition to traditional TLDs in Latin, there will be many applications for domains in national languages (IDN). The experts of the working groups will work on solutions that ensure the delegation of multilingual domains that meet the interests of the world community. The working group on Cyrillic domains included employees of the Ukrainian company - “Center for Internet Names of Ukraine” (
Ukrnames ).
Applications for new gTLDs will be accepted from January 12, 2012 to April 12, 2012.
It is expected that the first names in the new gTLDs will begin work already in 2013.
