Lecture "The Demoscene Today: Computer Art in Real Time"

I publish the announcement not in the “Democene” heading, but in events, as those who are already very familiar with the demostsena may receive less from the lecture than those who still do not fully know and understand what it is.

So. On June 22, the next lecture of the [KhPMT] school “The Democene Today: Computer Art in Real Time” will take place.

The topics of the lecture are as follows:
* prerequisites for the emergence of the demoscene, its formation;
* demo genres;
* democene as a subculture;
* modern software for creating interactive 3D-graphics, real-time video synthesis;
* demo as a technical solution and as an art object.
')
The lecture will be read by VJ Denee (he does not disclose the real name) - an expert on the demoscene, IT, video technologies, network underground; video artist. Having abandoned his career as a financier, he first took up 3D modeling and then computer art (in his words, “creating his own artificial realities”). Demanded media installation specialist (among clients are BMW, Paradise Club and others), computer art history researcher.

The lecture will be held June 22 at 20:00 in the auditorium. 526A RSUH (Moscow, st. Chayanov, 15, 6 building). You must register here before visiting.

VJ Denee's special comment for Habr: “quite right, I was not a member of demogroups, but I’m interested in the topic from the 93rd year. Actually, this lecture is an appeal to the history of the demo; but the main topic that may later move on to the special course is what was born from the scene — software with which you can create without being an elite coder. ”
From our side we add that we, [KhPMT], are interested in media art in general, so that we respect and understand the opinions of all participants in the process.

For those who do not know at all, here is a brief description of the demostsena. She was born in the 80s in a computer underground, simultaneously with hacking. This is a community of people creating demo - computer programs as works of art. Demo programs generate an abstract video sequence with music in real time. Demoscene as the direction of underground art
historically located at the intersection of video art, chiptune / 8-bit, IDM and other experimental electronic music, psychedelic art and creative programming (namely
virtuoso programmers were originally called "hackers"). Until now, the demo and academic video art exists in different planes.
