The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), which regulates the creation of domains and the allocation of IP addresses, has adopted rules that will allow the creation of addresses ending in almost any word, BBC reports.
These changes will lead to the fact that among top-level domain names, in addition to, for example, familiar .com or national domains like .ua or .ru, domains of private companies and organizations may appear.
ICANN will begin accepting applications for registration of new names in 2012.
