Less than two hours ago, the notorious group of hackers
LulzSec , which had already distinguished itself by attacks on Sony’s resources, organized a DDoS attack on a number of services: EVE Online multiplayer game servers (at this time, usually 50,000–60,000 people are online at the same time) Minecraft, the site of The Escapist Magazine and others. The team
claims they destroyed the EVE Online login server. CCP, the game developer,
confirmed the attack and reported disconnecting services from the Internet as a precaution. Markus Persson, the creator of the game Minecraft, also
confirmed the existence of problems.
Judging by the messages on
Twitter LulzSec, the guys just have fun. But excluding the possibility of compromising credit card information stored on online gaming servers is also a bit early.
UPD. There was official information from CCP.
