Lecture "Video games as a new kind of media"

Habr has only one blog about games, so I announce a lecture here. On June 16, the lecture “Video games as a new type of media: the impact on cinema” will take place. Read it well-known habrovchanam Igor Kolomiets.

Igor Kolomiets has been writing about games for a long time and unusual: previously he led columns on Look At Me and in FHM magazine, and now he writes about game mechanics on Theory & Practice. At the same time, he works at Piston Games, where he explores and develops ways to create exciting and addictive games.

Kolomiets will explain why video games are the most important type of media and according to what rules they work; how the development of game-building and narrative techniques of games influence cinema; and what to expect from this industry in the near future.

Among the lecture topics:
- sex, violence and appropriate censorship in games, playful addiction;
- copyright games: is there a game "arthouse" and in which direction it moves;
- the plot and freedom of action in the games: their conflict and complementarity;
- narrative in games and in movies.
