Seoul Semiconductors has announced the launch of new LEDs, almost the brightest in the world today. The product, codenamed FCW211Z, according to the manufacturer, can be a substitute for xenon light sources, which are used as flashlights in digital cameras and new camera phones. Seoul Semiconductors LEDs are compact in size, characterized by high brightness and long life. With a current of two amperes, the light intensity of the FCW211Z series LEDs is about 100 cd, which is much higher than that of similar products currently available. In the near future, according to the manufacturer, the new development is fully capable of replacing even high-quality xenon light sources.
Small sizes are also in favor of Seoul Semiconductors LEDs. Compare: the dimensions of the FCW211Z are 3.5 × 3 × 0.75 mm, and the size of the xenon light source for a flash in a regular camera phone is 10.1 × 4.6 × 3.5 mm. Reducing the size, respectively, will allow even more miniaturization of digital cameras in mobile phones and digital soaps.
