Microsoft said that the next versions of its products, including the long-awaited Windows Server 2008 (aka Longhorn),
will be officially
presented in February 2008 at a presentation in Los Angeles.
During his speech at the Worldwide Partner Conference, Microsoft Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner announced that the software giant will officially introduce Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 on February 27, 2008 in Los Angeles.
The product release date may seem unattractive to customers who expected Windows Server 2008 to appear before the end of this year, as previously thought. Microsoft reports that they will not change the schedule, although officially the products will not appear until next year.
Turner calls the top three products “big dogs” in Microsoft’s entrepreneurial portfolio. “This is the biggest Microsoft product launch, which will occur one day in 2008,” he said.
