IN USA
ComScore recently published a report on the mobile phone market in the United States for the period from February to April. During this period, 234 million mobile phone users were counted in the US (75% of the population), of which 74.6 million smartphone users (24% of the population). The number of smartphone owners over the past 3 months increased by 13%.
Let us turn to the most interesting in the report, to the distribution of users by platform.
')
So, Google Android over the past 3 months has grown by 5.2% and amounted to 36.4% in the total market share, retaining the first place. This jump was the most impressive among market participants.
Apple iOS came in second place with 26% (+ 1.3%), overtaking the rapidly falling 4.7% and “reaching” numbers of 25.7% RIM (Blackberry).
The share of Microsoft (Windows Mobile & WinPhone) decreased to 6.7% (-1.7%). Apparently, while the alliance with Nokia does not work at full capacity, Microsoft will not be able to demonstrate anything outstanding in the market.
Completing the theme of the American market, Palm's share declined to 2.6% (-0.6%). The future is cloudy and foggy.
In the world
Previously, Gartner has published a report on sales of smartphones around the world for the first quarter of 2011, compared with the same period last year.
And now in the form of funny pictures
Android continues to grow at a crazy pace, increasing the number of sales by more than 6 times. By the way, even earlier, analysts from Millennial Media considered that Android now has 53% of the smartphone market.
Symbian sales are growing, but significantly below the market. This is the reason for the decline in the share of sales by 16.6%. You don’t have to expect anything supernatural from Symbian, since an alliance with Microsoft already “overwhelmed” by journalists and bloggers should kill Symbian. It is only a matter of time.
iOS grows with the market, 2 times. RIM and Microsoft, like Symbian, slightly increase in the number of sales, but also below the market.
Another interesting point is the decrease in the number of sales of devices on other platforms, the market is divided among the major players.
