The company T-Mobile announced the release of a new phone that works in both conventional cellular networks and transmitting calls over the Internet via Wi-Fi. Perhaps T-Mobile HotSpot
Home promises no less than a revolution in mobile communications.
The idea that T-Mobile is trying to embody is simple and ingenious. If a subscriber using the services of this cellular company is willing to pay $ 10 above the chosen tariff plan, then he will receive a new special phone for his use. The device works in two modes: like a regular cellular (it also “eats” minutes and a monthly fee according to the tariff) and just like a regular cellular, but via the Internet. That is, if there is a Wi-Fi access point nearby, then the voice is transmitted not over cellular networks, but through the global network. For the subscriber, everything remains the same. Calls are made, incoming calls are identified, in general, no difference is noticeable. With only one reservation: to pay for communication in this case do not need a cent.
And T-Mobile HotSpot
Home fully automatically switches between two modes of operation. You go to yourself, talk phone calls, pay at the same time for every minute. You’ve got into Wi-Fi “zone of action” and (wait a minute, really) don’t pay anymore - you’ll switch to Wi-Fi without pressing any buttons or taking any additional actions. Already good. But T-Mobile went even further. If the subscriber deigns to put extra $ 50 (one-time) on his account, then the quick specialists of this cellular giant immediately “present” a wireless router for home use. If the Internet is unlimited, then calls using T-Mobile HotSpot
Home will, of course, be free.
The only thing that is not encouraging in this whole story is the lack of prospects for receiving such a phone (and starting to use it) from us, both in Russia and in the entire post-Soviet space. However, it is not yet known when exactly T-Mobile HotSpot
Home will appear in the States. But this is a matter of time.
