Not so long ago on Habré
flashed a topic about aerofs .
Many of us then shouted “Wow! Cool! Mast hev and all that. ” Time passed, the interest subsided, everyone forgotten somehow. I did not despair and left a few requests for invites. Well, periodically communicated with the developers. Apparently, the time has come, and my most representative box was among the lucky ones and got an invite.
Of course, at the end of the post - the distribution of parrots (that is, invites).
Under the cut, there is a small review and screenshots of this megapiece (no, really, this is exactly what every person who has more than 1 PC needs). All screenshots are made under Ubuntu. Makosi is not, and windows is lazy to search.
The current version of the program is marked as EA15.1. External Alpha.
What do we already know how?
- Synchronize directories on p2p directly. It was possible to achieve a speed of 40 mbps over wi-fi.
- Synchronize directories exclusively with your typewriters. No one steals our files.
- Synchronize directories on the server developers. The limit is 1 GB per directory (as aerofs, they are called library)
- Select libraries to synchronize for each individual machine. Control only locally (that is, you cannot tell the second PC to stop synchronizing files through the aerofs client from the first PC)
- Able to draw a beautiful plate with a list of files that are now swinging / distributed. Also there is information from where and where the file is being sent and the speed is indicated.
- Each client in your account can have a custom User name and Computer Name.
- Send invites to mail
Yes, the functionality is absolutely scanty. But the most important and necessary f-tion is. Files really sync. Including I managed to synchronize the file between two clients, one of which is a laptop (connected via wifi to the office local store, in front there is a gateway that NATIT the Internet inside the local computer, 80th port == transparent squid) to the dlink 825g router, which distributes pppoe to the inside of the network. Virtualka goes to the network via NAT, raised on the host). For me it is more than worthy. I have a suggestion that work wherever torrents work. In general, no one bothers you to potest and unsubscribe =)
What critical opportunities do not exist:
- Transferring the physical location of libraries. In ubunt - ~ / AeroFS, in windows they rush somewhere in My Documents
- Simlinks do not sync
- Integration with FM. Well, more precisely from the program's menu, you can open the library in FM ... But no icons on folders and other goodies DropBox
- The program icon in the tray does not change its appearance. We don’t know that files are not synchronized.
- The ability to temporarily disable synchronization for a particular library. Synchronization as a whole, of course, can be slowed down by disabling the daemon.
')
The developers are aware of the problems and promise to fix them in the near future.
What features promise in the future:
- Web muzzle for our files. It is not clear how it will work with files that are not uploaded to their servers, but still
- Versioning files (a la small such svn)
- Mobile Platform Clients
For future features, see
here . You can also vote for each.
Now some personal impressions. Cool, mast hev, dropbox killer. Without exaggeration. Eating memory like mad - java, though. Now 100 mb - in a state of complete rest.

Well and traditional in similar cases distribution of
elephants of invites in aerofs.
For a start, a little explanation is that invites are distributed by providing access to a shared library. Please do not throw into it any nonsense, and even more so - large files. Not everyone has great hdd. And even better - immediately turn it off, as you register.
Do not include synchronization of the libraries with servers of developers - they do not count on habraeffekt right now.Invites are sent to the mailbox. Write your mailbox in the comments
or send me email to root [at] vlad.pro - I will send it back. Please do not throw in a personal habr ... It is very inconvenient to go there) I’m not sending more invites, I switched to more advanced technologies (rsync, aha =))
UPD: In the ball through which the invites spread, interesting books began to arrive) Be careful with the traffic.
UPD2: To disconnect from the general balls - go to Preferencs-> Libraries, select temp and click minus at the bottom.
