Yesterday, at the D9 conference, the next-generation Windows interface was first demonstrated, adapted for a wide range of devices: from small touch displays to large screens with a keyboard and mouse.
Here are some aspects of the interface:
Quick launch of applications from the tiles on the start screen, which replaces the Start menu. As in Windows Phone 7.
Dynamic tiles with notifications that always show the latest information from the application.
Convenient, intuitive switching between applications.
Improved Snap function for easy binding of windows to the edges of the screen and changing their sizes.
HTML5 and JavaScript web applications with access to system functions.
Optimized for IE10 touchscreen displays.
The old Windows interface with Windows Explorer and the desktop will not be removed from Windows 8. In this interface, all applications that are compatible with Windows 7 will run.
