Scientists are close to creating new types of displays

A group of American scientists, whose names history still holds back, managed to create a specific substance based on water and iron oxide. Under the influence of a magnetic field, this substance can change color, which promises a bright invention to an unusual invention in the field of display technology.

If you believe the authors of the discovery, the substance can be painted in almost any color, it all depends only on the strength of the magnetic field acting on the liquid. For example, in its nominal state, that is, in the absence of a field, the substance has a red-brown color (like rust); with the appearance of a magnetic field and an increase in its force of action, the liquid begins to change color, changing from rusty brown to red, then to orange, green, blue, and finally to blue. Thus, at the output you can get all three primary colors - red, green and blue, as well as a lot of intermediate shades. Their brightness, in turn, depends on the amount of light falling from outside and reflected from the substrate, the role of which is played by iron oxide. That is, the stronger the substance is illuminated, the brighter the colors become. Iron oxide in this case has the so-called property of superparamagnetism. This means that its particles acquire magnetic properties only when exposed to an external magnetic field.

It is curious that all these processes can occur on an extremely small scale, because scientists call displays, including flexible ones, one of the most urgent applications for a new technology. The truth about the real embodiment of the invention in the products of speech is not yet.
