On the Gmail blog,
it was announced the imminent launch of the new People widget. I don’t know how it will actually be called in the Russian-language localization, the Gmail team is calling it simply “people widget”.
The widget will be located on the right side of the window, and will display relevant information and content from friends, family and colleagues, which you, in general, could find without it, albeit with some difficulty.
To the right of each message, contextual information about people participating in this chain of letters will be displayed, and will include recent letters, posts in Buzz, general documents and calendar events. There will also be quick access to various ways of communicating with these people, to the beginning of a group chat or setting up a meeting with a group of people in the calendar. In general, instead of a boring description, you can just see the screenshots, it seems to me, everything is clear from them:

In some respects this, as I understand it, will be similar to services like
Xobni (about which there
was a topic recently ), which I tried and which I later refused for two reasons - it was too buggy and out of the mailer design, and second, I didn’t want to work together with the right-side chat, which I didn’t want to give up.
In this regard, the question arises - will this widget work normally with right-side chat? Wait and see.
In addition to the Xobni service, there are several other similar services (such as
Rapportive ) that offer similar functionality, an overview of similar (and not quite similar) services can be
found here .
