Today I will tell you about a new Microsoft project called PopFly. Already now you can take part in testing this product by requesting an invitation at
www.popfly.ms - most likely in a few days you will receive an invitation to participate in testing this product.
Microsoft PopFly is a special system that will allow everyone to create interesting and interactive pages without having any web programming skills. You can create something new or combine data from various sources (mashups) on your page such as Flickr, Yahoo, Virtual Earth or your own blog.
So, you received an invitation and the first thing you have to do is fill out a short questionnaire, which only NickName is a required field, thanks to the Microsoft team.

')
After that, you will see the main PopFly screen, which allows you to create a web page, create a mashup (see above), or join a community.

One of the main advantages of this system is that the user does not need any additional knowledge, such as HTML, DHTML or Java, to create their own page. Choosing the option “Create a Web Page” you will see an interactive and convenient web page editor:

By clicking on the “Preview” button, you can immediately evaluate your work and see your page in action. This editor allows you to easily change the layout of the page, dividing it into the required number of blocks, place an image or text, easily changing their characteristics, change the overall style of the page and much more. Click "Save", enter the name for your project - for example, "Some testing" and that's it! By clicking on the round button ala Office 2007 with the words “Logo goes here” you can always return to the home page to create a mashup for example. This is what I'll try to do now.
Creating a page from collection data — mashup — starts with a suggestion to install the Silverlight component:

Installation takes only a couple of moments, and you don’t even have to close the browser in order for the component to install correctly! Installing Silverlight you will see this designer:

This is where the most interesting, really great field for creativity begins. On the left is the panel-library of items that you can place on your page. The designer is fully interactive, and due to the use of Silverlight, which is based on WPF, working with it is a pleasure - a truly intuitive, three-dimensional (!) Interface with nice animation.
Participation in the PopFly community gives you the opportunity to communicate with other users, as well as the opportunity to learn ideas for your page, viewing other people's pages and mashup. Three-dimensional carousels, interactive pages, easy navigation, animation of elements and much more are now available to you without any knowledge of HTML!
