NASA has stopped trying to contact "Spirit"

It’s a pity of course, but today NASA has officially announced that it no longer hopes to reconnect with Spirit, and will not make further attempts on this matter. There was even a joke that "Spirit" ascended to the Martian skies. In principle, the agency and so long pulled the completion of work with "Spirit", because there is no connection with him for more than a year and two months. The last time the rover "responded" on March 22, 2010.

The agency hoped that it would be able to reconnect with the device after the cold and dusty Martian winter ended, but it seems that this period was not in vain for the rover. Probably, his solar panels were covered with sand and dust, or something else happened. It is clear that "Spirit" will never answer.

This rover and so lasted long enough, because he had to work only a few months (three, to be precise), but in fact worked for about seven years. In general, this device is a good example of how to create complex devices. Of course, there were problems, but not because of the developers, but because of the planet itself, if I may say so.
