
Over the past few years, a wonderful community of users, developers and partners has evolved around Evernote. Together, we are creating the first global global external memory platform, and this makes support and interaction with our ecosystem one of the most important (and useful) tasks. In this regard, we are pleased to announce the first event dedicated to the service ecosystem - a conference for the participants
of the Evernote Gallery called
Evernote Trunk Conference (ETC) , as well as the first
Developer Competition . Below we describe these events in more detail.
Evernote developer competition with a prize pool of $ 100,000!
Continuing the development of the Evernote community, we are waiting for the next wave of wonderful applications and integrations that will be loved by millions of Evernote users. To whet community interest, we launch the first global Developer Contest.
The authors of the most innovative and useful applications can count on large cash prizes, and their creations will be presented at our conference dedicated to the Evernote Gallery (
Evernote Trunk Conference ) in August. The main site of the competition is
here , and below we will go through its main provisions.

- 6 finalists: $ 5,000 each
- Grand Prix: $ 50,000
- Prize for creativity: $ 10,000
- Student prize: $ 10,000
How to participate
- Register on the competition website. We will generate you a special API key and will keep up to date with all the news regarding the competition and the conference.
- Develop your application, service, or device that uses Evernote features in one way or another. For inspiration, take a look at the already existing examples in the Evernote Gallery .
- Send your application. Call for applications begins June 10 and ends at 23:59 PST on July 15, 2011. It will be 10:59 on July 16 in Moscow.
Competition Rules
Below is a summary of how and according to the rules of the competition will be held. Full details with all the details are available in the official English
Terms and Conditions section.
- Applications for participation in the competition are accepted only for those applications and services that did not have open source integration with Evernote as of May 19, 2011.
- All applications must be submitted in English so that all judges can freely read them.
- Any form of technical integration with the Evernote platform is eligible to participate in the competition. These can be products using the Evernote Web Service API, Evernote Site Memory, direct integration with the Evernote software client and other methods listed in the corresponding section of the site .
- Make sure that the application or service you offer is available for free to our judges. They may not be available publicly during the competition, but the jury should be able to evaluate the performance using an Evernote account. As for applications for iOS, we will provide a list of UDID devices on which testing will be conducted.
- We will evaluate all the proposed works and will announce the list of six finalists on July 22, 2011. Each of the finalists will receive a cash prize of $ 5,000, as well as a paid flight and accommodation for two nights during the Evernote Trunk Conference on August 18 in San Francisco.
- Evaluation of the works of the finalists will be held from July 22 to August 5, 2011. This process will consist of two stages:
- Popular voting: Evernote users will be able to visit the contest site and vote for their favorite work. User rating will have a weight of 1/3 in the final assessment of the finalist.
- Evaluation of the jury: A group of Evernote staff and invited judges will evaluate the work of each finalist and vote for the ones you like. The official grade will have a weight of 2/3 in the final grade.
Refereeing
When selecting the finalists and winners, the judges will consider the works of participants according to the following four criteria:
- Attractiveness: How user-friendly and aesthetically appealing is the app?
- Evernote Platform Efficiency: How efficiently does the application use the unique functionality offered by the Evernote platform?
- Usefulness: How useful and / or necessary for the user is the application?
- Originality of the idea: How unique or innovative is the application
Winners
We have provided the following nominations.
Grand Prix: The finalist with the maximum points scored in the final standings will win the grand prize of $ 50,000.
Student Prize: Author of the best work among students (chosen by Evernote judges) will receive a prize of $ 10,000.
Prize for creativity: The most innovative, creative or unexpected work (chosen by Evernote judges) will also earn a prize of $ 10,000.
Winners will be announced at ETC on August 18, 2011.
