AOL and Google have entered into a partnership agreement, the subject of which is the compatibility of products of both companies, such as AIM, Gmail, Google Voice. Perhaps, for domestic users, this is not particularly important news, but, perhaps, for someone the compatibility of Google Chat and AIM is a desirable achievement. Since 2007, Gmail users could have access to an AIM account through Google Talk, but still it was impossible to send messages from Google AIM to Google Talk, there was also an inverse incompatibility. Now both companies have worked to ensure that their products are fully compatible.
Now AIM users can send messages to their contacts in Google account, and vice versa. Thus, now there is no meaning what client the user uses, it is all compatible with each other. Immediately after this new feature was introduced, Google
disabled the ability to log in via AIM. There was a new problem - few people want to see an additional tens (and possibly hundreds) of contacts in the Gmail contact list, but AOL will soon release a tool that will help solve the problem.

By the way, the combination of a huge user base of both products may take some time, so that a number of users may still have problems during such a merger.
And a few days ago, AOL announced the launch of a new video conferencing service:
AV by AIM . To work with the service, you do not need to register and install software, this service is browser based, it is based on Flash. In addition, AV by AIM can also interact with Google.
