Power outage in the Oversan data center
At the moment, some of the servers located on Clodo.ru are unavailable. The inaccessibility is caused by an interruption in the electricity in the Oversan data center.
As an engineer from Oversana told us, electricity only “blinked” (although according to our data it was not more than 15 minutes). At the moment, all our systems are running, their launch will take some time. According to the representative of “Oversan-Mercury”, the electrical fault affected only Clodo racks and another pair of half-empty racks of medium-sized customers.
PS So far, we have not been provided with an official explanation about the accident that has taken place, “since now there is no manual in the office”. So far we are satisfied with only the answer by e-mail:

Unfortunately, the chief engineer of the data center operation service is not authorized to speak on behalf of the company with a written request about the failure that occurred. Now we are ready to give an answer only in electronic form:
Today is 05/20/2011 at 12.50 due to an engineer error, there was a short-term (less than 1 minute) fall in electric power in the data center, which affected part of the equipment.
We apologize for the incident and can guarantee that we have excluded the possibility of a similar situation in the future.
I want to add that the equipment began to turn on in about 25-26 minutes after turning off ...
PPS 20:50 “The error of the engineer” DC “Oversan-Mercury” led to a 9-hour downtime of Clodo and, accordingly, our customers. Our engineers made every effort to minimize this downtime. We look forward to the official reaction on this incident to the leadership of the DC Oversan-Mercury.
PPPS Just received the results of the investigation from Oversan-Mercury:
05/20/2011, at 12:50, during the planned work on changing the client connection scheme, the standard procedure was violated on the equipment providing the power supply by the engineer Oversan-Mercury. As a result of mechanical damage to the switchboard plug, the power supply of several racks was disconnected. The malfunction was repaired in 12-51 and power was restored. In one of the racks, as a result of abrupt switching on, the fuses were turned off, which led to a break in the power supply of a part of the rack for 10-15 minutes. To prevent such incidents in the future, the replacement of the power supply switchboard plugs was replaced with more reliable ones.
Once again we apologize for the incident.
