3D printers are getting even smaller and cheaper.

Latest development printer1 Austrians from the Vienna University of Technology - a printer weighing 1.5 kg and estimated at about 1,200 euros . The technology of layer-by-layer application with photo hardening using an LED projector is used. Declared print resolution is 0.05 mm.

Two teams worked on the creation of this “baby” - mechanics under the guidance of prof. Jürgen Stampfl and chemists under the guidance of prof. Robert Liska (Robert Liska). They promise to further reduce both the size of the device and the cost (due to mass production). And also continue to work on new materials for printing - various polymers and ceramics.

On the second photo printer2 visible relative size of the printer, as well as two of the creators (Markus Hatzenbichler and Klaus Stadlmann). Frankly, I envy these guys in an amicable way. Well, who among us as a student was (or is) able to do so interesting things?

Having bought such a device for 1200 euros, you can already open a small business and serve DIY lovers in your city. In a few more years, 3D printers can become personal. If someone comes up with and implements for them the "killer app".
