Panasonic introduced a 4x Blu-ray disc

July 4, 2007 - Panasonic announced the release of a non-rewritable 4x Blu-ray disc. Using 4x BD drives, the new discs allow 4x write and read speeds, allowing you to process large amounts of information or high-definition data. Panasonic is the first company to market 4x BD-R discs, at the moment most discs support only double speed. The maximum data transfer rate of 4 disks is 144Mbps, in other words, a file or folder with a capacity of 1GB is copied in one minute. For example: DVD-RW recording (2x baud rate) takes 6 minutes. The amount of information in 50GB can now be recorded at 4x speed without turning the disc.
