Hi, Habr.
In the light of changes in the work of Youtube with advertising (see
post ), I think that for many people there will be a popular client for watching videos separately from the browser.
I stopped at the latest version of the Minitube 1.4.3 player distributed under Windows, Linux, Mac and in the form of source codes.

Of the advantages of this kind of applications, it is worth noting:
- block stupid pop-up ads for vacuum cleaners (I think it will block video ads);
- no need to load the machine with a flush (important for owners of netbooks and weak laptops);
- a fairly well-implemented search engine;
- most clients have a mechanism for downloading the video they like, in minitube you can download in the required quality.
Everyone will be able to look for an alternative client, I tell on the example of minitube, because I actively use it.
Download Minitube on
the developer’s website .
For Ubuntu users, PPA is available: ppa: neversfelde / minitube

In conclusion, I want to say that the method does not pretend to universality and is not suitable for everyone, but it blocks most advertising and has the right to exist.
I think that over time will make AdBlock for video ads.
As an option
AdBlock points .
