The project "Rating Runet" released a fresh ranking of the best CMS, which develop sites professional web studios in Russia and CIS countries. Compared to last year, the positions of software products in the ratings have changed slightly.
Traditionally, the rating of site management systems is divided into three parts: commercial (or "boxed") products, free-development and studio CMS, used only by a narrow circle of developers. The Runet Rating also conducts a separate ranking of CMS popularity for the main types of sites: corporate, promo, online stores, social networks, blogs, portals and services.
Recall that in the rating only those management systems are involved, in which at least 30 Internet projects are implemented. And when calculating, only those websites are taken into account that web studios enter through their “Personal Account” on the project, indicating which CMS the Internet resource was developed for. All the data on the basis of which the
CMS rating is based have been tested by a robot developed by the Proactivity Group company, based on the so-called CMS fingerprints - signs that clearly indicate the presence of a specific management system on the site.

In the rating of commercial CMS, the first two lines of the rating firmly hold 1C-Bitrix and NetCat. But the growth rates of these two systems are uneven: if at 1C-Bitrix the number of active projects increased by almost 700, then the result of NetCat improved by only 43 sites.

In the second tier of commercial CMS many changes. The most impressive figures for HostCMS and Amiro.CMS. The HostCMS system has risen from fourth place in the ranking to the third, gaining nearly 300 sites in the “weight”, first of all, online stores and blogs. Amiro.CMS has grown by 3 positions due to more than 400 new projects and has risen to 5th line, having shifted the S.Builder system from the BINN company. In turn, S.Builder compensated for this lag by growth in the CMS niche for portals and services.
Diafan.CMS, a relatively inexpensive and young “engine”, and webAsyst, positioned as a specialized platform for an online store, were newcomers to the rating of commercial systems. In distribution, both CMS are based on the base of small companies: design studios and freelancers. Finally, Twilight CMS does not participate in the “Runet Rating” of 2010, as the studios working with it did not add a sufficient number of new projects.

For free CMS, the main news of the year is the sharp rise in WordPress popularity. Having gained widespread popularity as a blogging platform, CMS WordPress was used to create corporate websites, promotional pages and even online stores. Against this background, Typo3, a more complex CMS, honed for corporate sites and business processes, lost two positions and shifted to fifth place in the rankings. The top two lines of free-to-use systems still remain behind CMS Joomla and Drupal, familiar to professional developers throughout Russia.
