Hi Habr,
If you are tired of looking at the pixels on the screen of your tablet / netbook, then this news will certainly interest you. Samsung has created a new 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels (WQXGA,
PenTile technology). The density of dots per inch in the novelty already 300! Representatives of the company claim that the new screen will consume 40% less energy than any display of this size (existing at the moment, with a brightness of 300 cd / m2). Also, thanks to the PenTile RGBW technology, the screen will be able to change the brightness dynamically up to 600 cd / m2 while covering 72% of the color gamut.
Frankly, PenTile technology, Samsung used before that, it first appeared on Google Nexus One, but there was no similar density achieved.
Representatives of the company report that the new displays will appear in the tablets by the end of this year.
Also actively cultivated information that this display will be used in the iPad 3.
The official presentation of the new items from Samsung will take place next week, at the SID 2011 exhibition.
Coupled with high-performance graphics chips, the new displays will certainly be able to demonstrate impressive results in high-definition movies and games. In this regard, the question arises: "But will not the GPU devour all the 40% saved by the display to service such a resolution?"
