Valve has released a beta version of the level editor for Portal 2
Today (that is, May 10 - approx. Lane ) we open access to Portal 2 Authoring Tools for all. Anyone with a PC version of Portal 2 can freely download them in the Tools tab on Steam.
Portal 2 Authoring Tools includes the same tools that were used to create Portal 2. They allow you to make your own maps for single and co-op modes, new character looks, 3D models, sound effects and music.
Here's what's included:

an updated version of Hammer, Source Level Engine Editor;
updated Faceposer (editor of facial animation and creating script scenes with characters - approx. lane );
examples of maps and primitives to help you create new maps;
updated set of utilities to compile from the command line
