The weekend came and finally I managed to go and take some pictures of
what I promised.
Description and pictures - under the cut.
(Caution - traffic!)So what is this machine:
- The processor - 80286 12MHz
- 1MB RAM
- HDD - 2x20 MB
- Steel body with a wall thickness of approximately 2mm
This computer was assembled by my father. I don’t remember, really, what year it was, but I remember how he played at Marijazh, how relatives came to us who studied somewhere in the universities and did some tasks, I remember the rustling of diskettes in the disk drive. Accordingly, my brother and I began to gradually join this kind of technology. In the end, this influenced my and his choice of profession.

But actually review:
Hard
This is how it looks outside:

Then we arm ourselves with a screwdriver, open the case, and see ... a pile of dust, a shell of seeds, and wires gnawed by mice. In the end, after some cleaning all takes the following form:

Now you can make out a little everything. First of all, all expansion cards are pulled out. Without them, the motherboard has the following form:

The longest board is the WD1003-WA2 Floppy / HDD controller (
Google has it ):

This machine has 2 ST225 hard drives installed at 20MB each, when there was also a floppy drive for five-inch floppy disks, but then it was pulled out and installed on a more modern computer to read a pack of floppy disks (which by the way and now are lying somewhere). And here is the HDD itself:

As you can see, each hard drive is connected to 2 cables that come to the controller:

Narrow red and blue (2 left) go to both of the disks, wide blue (3 left) at the other end has 2 connectors that connect to each hard drive. The free connector on the controller is exactly where the drive was connected.
Winchesters in slots:

This is all good eats I do not know how much power but a very large power supply (about two times larger in size for a modern 450W):

If you look at the case from the front, then on the right side there is a big “switch” - a power switch, it is located on the unit itself:

A BP is connected to the motherboard like this:

On the board itself are:
80286 central processor

math coprocessor 80287

1MB of RAM

CMOS BIOS Chip

Isa slots

Keyboard connector and BIOS battery

What else have you forgotten? Oh yeah, cover:

In general, all together as a collection is rather heavy, a kilogram of 10 that way and it is too heavy to remove the case from the cabinet itself. But the fact that it is heavy and not surprising, because the body is completely steel and the wall thickness is about 1.5-2 mm.

With the lid closed:
In front

On right

Behind

There is nothing interesting on the left of the case, so, finally, the keyboard can include:

Soft
The switch is in the On position, and let's go!

(The keyboard error was corrected by wiggling the wire near its casing)
After the download, which takes about a minute and a half, the car happily shows the usual blue VC panels:

There is a lot of old programs, there is also a dosovsky Doctor Web, and Norton Utilities, Microcap, ArtWork, CirCad, several different BASICs (QBASIC, gwBasic), AutoCad (which did not start due to Disk read error, it’s a shame that the screw probably starts to drop , if someone tells you how to copy data from them - I will be very grateful). I was too lazy to launch all this and take pictures, especially since some of the programs were in the archives. There is little space - in order to unarchive one thing - it is necessary to archive another, and this takes a lot of time. By the way, archiving at that time with such volumes of disk memory gave a tangible benefit. And the only one of the programs I launched TP7:

Compiling this 9-line source takes probably 20-30 seconds:

But the result!

Well, the screen to confirm the amount of HDD:

And then the most interesting software! Of course this is the GAMES directory:

I will describe further what is in my opinion the most interesting. So:
1. CdMan
Clone PacMan'a, eat green dots, run away from spiders - it's simple.

2. Durak is the usual Fool. There is nothing to say. Unless there is an interesting moment here, when the candle burns out, you have to play blindly, not knowing how many cards are left in the deck and how many hands the opponent has.

3. A particularly tough game called Dangerous Dave. We must walk and drench zombies. There are grandmothers who throw knives, various creatures hanging on the ceiling and ready at any moment to rush and strangle the main character.

4. Lines, well, where do without them. Classic Lines.

5. Preference "Marijazh". This is probably one of the first versions of the preference "Marijazh" under DOS. Plays pretty well. Although it is possible because I am not particularly strong in preference.

6. Just a masterpiece - "Field of Miracles." Cartoon characters as rivals, Yakubovich in the lower right corner and funny themes like “Employees of Dep. 08 ".

7. Formula 1 "Grand Prix" from the company Accolade. Great races with good graphics. There are probably about ten tracks to choose from and three cars from different teams: Ferrari, Williams, McLaren.

8. Sea battle. The war at sea between Ukraine and Russia. I always wanted to play for Ukraine, but there is no such opportunity here, but oh well. By the way, the game has one interesting feature - when there are many battered ships on the screen, then the flight of shells slows down (sound, too) in proportion to the number of lights drawn. Although, perhaps this is due to a weak processor.

Here is a small photo review, a little diluted text. Immediately I apologize for the fact that in some photos in the monitor I can see a little. Well, the width of the "big" photos had to be limited to 2048 pixels. Habrastorage for some reason did not want to upload photos in 4272 * 2848.
Any questions and constructive criticism are welcome. Thanks for attention.
