"Tablet" microscope - a new word in optical technology

The device has dimensions that allow it to fit on the palm of a doctor or scientist. At the same time the available resolution of the device is 5 microns. At the same time, the size of the active surface is 36 * 24 millimeters, so that very detailed images of the sample placed on the active surface can be obtained.

It is worth noting that this surface consists of tiny lenses, and this design allows you to get really clear images. Similar devices usually use the scanner principle, which slows down the acquisition of high-quality and detailed sample images. It also uses separate channels for image acquisition, each tiny lens is a separate channel. Thus, the image can be obtained very quickly. The size of one lens is 300 * 300 microns.

In general, such a device involves its use by doctors for early detection of skin cancer, but the microscope is quite suitable for other purposes, and for representatives of other branches of medicine, science and technology. If you also use this microscope in conjunction with a compact computer - a flash drive , the laboratories will immediately become more free.

Unfortunately, at the present time, developers have created only one working sample of such a device, which will be demonstrated at LASER World of PHOTONICS, May 23-26. Before the advent of the first commercial samples, the creators of the device consider, one or two more years will pass.
