RuSSIR / EDBT 2011. How and why to participate?

Hello! We are a distributed team whose members live and work in Yekaterinburg, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Voronezh, Yaroslavl and even Lugano (Switzerland) and Walnut Creek (California, USA). This year we are organizing an information retrieval school - RuSSIR - for the fifth time ( announcement of last year ). This time RuSSIR has teamed up with the European School on Database (EDBT), the theme of the school is Web of Data. Maybe someday we will write about how our teamwork is organized, but the main topic of this note is how and why to participate in the united school RuSSIR / EDBT 2011 .

The main question "Why?". The answer is simple: the school has a very cool and varied program. The following courses are waiting for participants:

Another argument - the school will be held in St. Petersburg. Should I remind you that this is one of the most attractive tourist centers of our country? During school, participants, of course, will need to rest from daily mental work (independently or in an organized way), and in the northern capital there are more than enough walking routes.

We now turn to the question "How to participate?". The most important thing is to fill in the registration form . The most difficult thing is to submit a poster and be ready to pay the registration fee (8,400 rubles). But everything is not as bad as it seems.
')
The organizing fee can and not be paid - thanks to the support of sponsors and the EDBT association, we are ready to pay it for many participants ourselves! In this case, participants need to pay for travel, accommodation and meals during school. And for especially distinguished candidates we are ready to pay for accommodation during school (only the road and food will remain).

How can you "distinguish and distinguish yourself"? We want to bring together people who are truly interested in the topic and are looking to develop further. Therefore, when allocating grants, we will pay attention to the completed form, your resume, statement of interest, and poster presentation (poster). In the poster, each candidate for participation in the school needs to present his or her current or completed research on the school's subject — this could be a detailed review, your term paper, a diploma or dissertation, and a description of your production task. The content of the poster does not have to be original - you can submit published results. If the result has not yet been published, and you are ready to issue it in the form of a full-fledged article, then you will have the opportunity to get a VAK publication. All posters and articles will be presented at the conference of young scientists , which will be held as part of the school.

That's all. See you at school!
